Secondary Mathematics Cadre Developing Meaningful Assessments (Monday, March 23, 2015)
- Design the assessment to reflect the 8 Mathematical Practices
- Align assessment items to content standards. (Most Important - Power Standards)
- Assessment(s) must be field tested (Spring ‘15) before rolling out in the fall.
- Use the backwards design theory to develop the assessment
- Semester II Algebra I and Semester II Geometry are the first to be developed
- We will follow with first semester assessments for the same courses
- We will need an entrance exam for Algebra I to be administered at the end of the spring semester for those students with relative mathematics MAP scores, teacher recommendation and the required final grade in middle school mathematics.
